Along with the tusks and the stripes

To collect means to gather or bring together things—that are typically scattered or spread. This exhibition explores collections of artworks that are made of considerably fragile mediums such as paper and other consciously chosen ephemeral materials. In relation to the idea of creating a legacy many questions arise such as, what kind of role do these transient mediums play in collecting art?

There is an aspect of control in the act of collecting. When given a chance to choose, what will be chosen? How does the temporality of the medium collected feed into the notion of personal legacy? Given the luxury to nurture a collection or an artistic practice, what sort of world would be cultivated?

This exhibition comprises of artworks collected within the past two decades for a variety of personal takes and turns into building a collection, creating a legacy. Artworks are shown along with its descriptions by its collectors in light that we can unravel answers towards the questions posed above.
